A wonderfully versatile essential oil with applications ranging from digestive support to relaxing muscle tension, Nutmeg is a must have for every household!

Nutmeg oil is a stimulating, invigorating oil that can be used in response to nervous fatigue or to help activate the mind. It has a range of applications in aromatherapy which include supporting digestive process, healthy circulation and nerve balance, as well as being connected to healthy appetite and sexuality. It may also be especially useful as a response to deep muscular and skeletal pain. Blends well with: Peppermint and all Citrus. Adds a warm, spicy, powerful scent to a blend.

Directions for use:

  • Aphrodisiac: Use the following blend in a bath as an aphrodisiac, suitable for both men and women: 1 drop Nutmeg, 2 drops Ginger, 2 drops Black Pepper , 3 drops Ylang Ylang, 1 drop Coriander, 2 drops Geranium.
  • Digestion: Nutmeg encourages healthy appetite (and may also be useful against intestinal parasites and infections). Use 2-3 drops in 5 ml Olive oil (organic) and massage onto abdomen in a clockwise direction before mealtimes.
  • Pain Relief: Assists natural calming of nerve activity and relaxation in muscle tension. May be especially welcome for deep seated muscular, skeletal and nervous pain. Apply topically in massage oil (3 drops to 1 tsp), works well blended with Peppermint.
  • Muscle Relaxant: Nutmeg oil supports deep relaxation in muscle tissue. Add 3 drops into a bath combined with 5 drops of Eucalyptus and 5 drops of Lavender True. Soak for 15 min before bedtime.
Size: 5ml

Traditional & Historical Information:

Nutmeg has a long culinary history in India where its disinfectant properties provide an added bonus to its aromatic use. In ancient India and China, nutmeg was a prestigious substance used in mind-altering strengths; in Malaysia it has found use where women strengthen the uterine muscle for labour. It has a strong, spicy fragrance that the Romans utilised to make incense. Reported to have analgesic, antiseptic and anti-oxidant properties, nutmeg has been used for digestive complaints, as an aphrodisiac, and for poor circulation, arthritis, rheumatism, fatigue and anxiety.
